Tall Ship Race 2018
Ahoy!!
We have exciting news…. a joint Ocean Youth Trust and Berwick Youth Project venture is planned for summer 2018.
We are recruiting a team of 10 young people aged 15 to 25 (as at July 2018) to work alongside a professional crew on the ‘James Cook’ sail training ship (www.oytnorth.org.uk)
The outline plan is:
Friday 13th July: The group is transported from Berwick to Sunderland to join the ship for a training day.
Saturday 14th July: The ship departs Sunderland as part of the Parade of Sail, and starts the race to Esberg in Denmark.
Wednesday 18th July: Expected arrival in Denmark and participation in all Tall Ships events.
Friday 20th July: Depart Denmark to fly home and be transported to Berwick.
The cost for this experience is £850 – this includes all insurances, food, protective clothing, and travel to and from Berwick. We will also be working with the OYT to provide some additional preparation training including the RYA Sea Survival course.
